Judge Adds Jail Time for Texas Men Who Beat Black Man
This is after 4 white men beat a mentaly retarded black man and left him laying on a fire ant hill in the middle of a field. The Texas jury recommended no jail time for the assault. Too bad the black man was not a fetus because then the bigots would have got a life sentence.

Well Perry's oddness is probably exhibit A in why you'll see Kay Bailey Hutchison leave the Senate and run for governor here. Perry really inherited the governorship from Bush when he became President and the Democratic Party simply can't seem to field a viable candidate for any state office here.
Of all the things he's done, this one makes the best soundbite, but it's not in his top 10 or so in terms of stupid Governor tricks. It's made sort of an unusual situation where the Republicans are looking for a way to oust an incumbent Governor who is going to run for reelection. Hence the push to get Senator Hutchison to run.
Well, guess it's time for me to weigh in on this.
The marriage ammendment that is being referred to has NOT been put in the Texas constitution yet, it MUST be put on a ballot for Texas voters to decide on.
Second, I don't think the Governor used good sense in his comment about perhaps leaving the state. I have some very good friends who are gay and they know that I do not agree with their lifestyle. That does not change the fact that they are some of the most hard working, honest, and down right nicest people I know.
Lastly, I would agree with Tommy that Perry did just basically inherit the office when GW was elected President, and that the DNC just can't find anyone to run. I personally hope all of the rumors are true that KBH will be coming here to replace him, as his time is about over.
Other than that, I'm not sure what to think of Perry most of the time.
