Rush Limbaugh - Still a Slime Ball

Michael J. Fox recently did a couple of TV ads for candidates who support stem cell research. This is not surprising since Fox suffers from Parkinson's disease and there is hope that a cure to the disease can be found using stem cell research.

We all know that stem cell research is a very divisive topic. I happen to think that the life of a human who is suffering from disease now is more valuable than some blastocytes that are going to be flushed down a toilet anyway. But that is just my view. Not everyone sees it the same way and I will respectfully disagree with whose who find this process of research immoral.

But Rush has to go one step further and claim that Michael J. Fox was faking his condition when he appeared in the TV ads.

"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease," Limbaugh told listeners. "He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. . . . This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."

I am sure that Rush is a medical expert who can diagnose the true affects of Parkinson's disease from a TV ad. After all, we all know that Rush is fully aware of the effects of drugs on the human system. So, Rush, like usual is right. Michael J. Fox was shamelessly acting and duping us all. I am sure the effects of Parkinson's disease had nothing to do with Fox quitting his acting career in his prime. In fact, Fox probably doesn't even have Parkinson's. This is just another liberal conspiracy to kill more babies.

Or Rush is just a big fat rat bastard...

Take your pick.

Rush Limbaugh: Hard Up

This one is almost too funny to be true. Rush Limbaugh, was busted when he brought back a prescription for Viagra from the Dominican Republic. Him using Viagra? That is really no surprise, nor is it something that he should be ashamed of (especially as a Republican). Overweight men who smoke (in Rush's case it is Cigars) and who have other medical problems (of which I am not at liberty to discuss) tend to have problems getting it up.

So, what is the problem than? Well, it turns out that he had the prescription written out in someone else's name. It is illegal to do this and could jeopardize his plea agreement from when he was busted for obtaining drugs illegally.

I really wish that Rush would do what he has been preaching for years and take responsibility for his illegal behavior. After all, it was Rush who claims that drug penalties are too lax and that the end user should get the maximum sentence for their addiction. He should march right up to the judge and demand that he be sent to prison. If he has no sympathy for criminals, should expect and demand no sympathy from others when he breaks the law.

More Stupid Rushisms

In continuing with the idiotic rhetoric coming from the right wing media pundits, I had to comment on Rush Limbaugh, wind bag extraordinaire, today.

He had not just one, but two choice stupid comments.

First, he attacked a Zogby International poll that was sponsored by Le Moyne College's Peace and Global Studies Program. In the poll, 72% of soldiers surveyed in Iraq felt that troops should be withdrawn in the next year. Additionally, "while 58% say mission is clear, 42% say U.S. role is hazy," "90% think war is retaliation for Saddam’s role in 9/11, most don’t blame Iraqi public for insurgent attacks," "majority of troops oppose use of harsh prisoner interrogation," and "Plurality of troops pleased with their armor and equipment."

Why is Limbaugh attacking the poll? I could see how a wingnut would not like the results. But Rush doesn't believe the results because it was sponsored by a program that contains the word "peace" in its title.

The poll was funded by Le Moyne College's Center for Peace and Global Studies.

And when I -- anytime an organization has the word "peace" in it, throw it out. It's just a bunch of long-haired, maggot-infested, dope-smoking, FM peace-types that have an agenda.

"But what about Zogby, Rush? What about Zogby?" I'm just telling you what I think. I'm a manly guy. I stand by it.

So, anytime that a organization has the word "peace" in their title, they must me pinko-commie bastards that want to turn this country into an Islamic state.

Turns out that if Rush had done the minimal amount of homework on Le Moyne College, he would discover that it is a Jesuit School. Yes, it is a Catholic university. Does he really expect a religious school to promote war? Is he seriously claiming that the Catholic church is now the mouth piece of Islamic extremism? And, being a Catholic, I can honestly say I have never met a Jesuit brother who is a long haird, maggot-infested, dope-smoking, FMer. Correct me if I am wrong.

Personally, I would have reservations of any religious school that had a program for "War and Global Studies."

Secondly, Rush attacks Senators Schumer, Leahy, Durbin, and Bidan for their comments during a congressional hearing on the cost of oil and its exponential increase.

LEAHY: Every time there's been a merger, prices have gone up. Anybody want to respond to that? Is that just coincidence?

SCHUMER: There are fewer, more massive players in the markets, prices have spiked, and what has gone up has not come down. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Limbaugh sys "this is Stalinist. This is Stalinist and Marxist."

Stalinist and Marxist? I guess the OxyContin really did screw with Rush's brain. Econ 101 - monopolies are anti-capitalistic. Competition is what drives capitalism. Monopolies destroys capitalism. When the number of suppliers is reduced by mergers, it leads to price increases. At a certain point, economies of scale hit an plateau and the lack of competition leads to price increase. That is just the way it is. I guess in Rush's economic utopia, there would be only one oil company.

Again, this just shows that Rush is more concerned about filling the air waves with crap than actually attempting to initiate discussion. I guess they don't call his listeners ditto heads for nothing.

Update: More stupidity from Rush

On his web site (of which I refuse to link) Rush states:

Facts Fail to Match Media Action Line

American Deaths over the Last Three Years Put in Perspective:
• Auto Accidents: 120,000
• Falling Down: 45,000
• Poisoning: 27,000
• Drowning: 12,000
• War in Iraq: 2,300

Rush's point here? That is is much more dangerous to be in the US than to be a soldier in Iraq. But, once again, as most right wing media pundits like to do, he lies to you. He is using fuzzy math.

Lets do the math. 2300 soldiers have died in Iraq in the last 3 years. That makes a total of 767 deaths per year. We have around 130,000 troops in the field per year. Thus, making your chances of being killed in Iraq .6%.

Now, lets take all the deaths in the US from auto accidents, falling down, poisoning, and drowning. The grand total is 204,000 deaths by those causes. The number looks staggering, but when you take into account that we have 300 million people in this country, your chance of dying from any one of those causes is .07%. Meaning, a soldier is 10 times more likely to die in Iraq than all of the causes Rush cites combined when he or she comes home.

So, Rush is either ethically, or mathmatically impaired. Since we all know Rush lies more than he even gets high, it is most likely the former of the two.

Senate Gives a Big F-You to the Pres

Yesterday, the Senate voted 90-9 to set guidelines for interrogating detainees in Iraq and elsewhere. This overwhelmingly bi-partisan vote sent a big ol' "F-You" to the president, who said he would veto any bill that set a limit on what kind of torture that the military can use. Apparently, Bush listens to the Rush Limbaugh show and agrees with Rush that what goes on at Abu Ghraib is actually "fun." Hopefully this might give Bush a kick in the ass to wake him up. His liaise fare attitude on torture is being rejected by even his own parties ardent war supporters.

Some people like Rush, worry about the reaction of the world to the release of additional pictures of the abuse that went on in Abu Ghraib. I am more concerned what the world will think about us when we have a president who refuses to commit to not using torture again.

Senate Supports Interrogation Limits
90-9 Vote on the Treatment of Detainees Is a Bipartisan Rebuff of the White House

By Charles Babington and Shailagh Murray
Washington Post Staff Writers
Thursday, October 6, 2005; Page A01

The Senate defied the White House yesterday and voted to set new limits on interrogating detainees in Iraq and elsewhere, underscoring Congress's growing concerns about reports of abuse of suspected terrorists and others in military custody.

Forty-six Republicans joined 43 Democrats and one independent in voting to define and limit interrogation techniques that U.S. troops may use against terrorism suspects, the latest sign that alarm over treatment of prisoners in the Middle East and at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is widespread in both parties. The White House had fought to prevent the restrictions, with Vice President Cheney visiting key Republicans in July and a spokesman yesterday repeating President Bush's threat to veto the larger bill that the language is now attached to -- a $440 billion military spending measure.

Senate GOP leaders had managed to fend off the detainee language this summer, saying Congress should not constrain the executive branch's options. But last night, 89 senators sided with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a former prisoner of war in Vietnam who led the fight for the interrogation restrictions. McCain said military officers have implored Congress for guidelines, adding that he mourns "what we lose when by official policy or by official negligence we allow, confuse or encourage our soldiers to forget . . . that which is our greatest strength: that we are different and better than our enemies."

The vote came hours after Senate Democratic leaders blasted Republicans for canceling a classified briefing on anti-terrorism matters by the director of national intelligence, John D. Negroponte. Senate Democrats also sent Bush a letter demanding more information about how he intends to succeed in Iraq.

The president, who defended his Iraq policies at a news conference Tuesday, plans to deliver "a significant speech on the war on terrorism" today, spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters. He said Bush will "talk in unprecedented detail about the nature of the enemy we face" and "about our comprehensive strategy for defeating" that enemy.

The Senate's 90 to 9 vote suggested a new boldness among Republicans to challenge the White House on war policy. The amendment by McCain, one of Bush's most significant backers at the outset of the Iraq war, would establish uniform standards for the interrogation of people detained by U.S. military personnel, prohibiting "cruel, inhuman or degrading" treatment while they are in U.S. custody.

McCain's allies included Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.), a former military lawyer, and Armed Services Committee Chairman John W. Warner (R-Va.). They said new detainee standards are needed to clear up confusion among U.S. troops that may have led to the mistreatment alleged at the Navy's Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba and to the abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

(Full Story)

Rush Limbaugh - The Nut

Rush Limbaugh attacked the Judge that ordered the release of 87 photographs of the torture and abuse at Abu Ghraib under the freedom of information act. He claims the judge is siding with Al Qaeda.

He has no problem with the fact that there is or was any abuse of the detainees. He has called the use of torture "brilliant" and likened the events to being no worse than a fraternity prank - "sort of like hazing, a fraternity prank. Sort of like that kind of fun."

From the Rush Limbaugh Show Sept. 30, 2005:

LIMBAUGH: Another American judge, U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, has sided with our enemies of Al Qaeda. Pictures of detainee abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison must be released, despite government claims they could damage America's image. Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein said terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan have proven that they do not need pretexts for their barbarism. The American Civil Liberties Union sought the release of 87 photographs and four videotapes as part of an October 2003 lawsuit.

Anything you can to harm and destroy the country, anything you can to be critical of this country, would be permissible on the wacko American Left.

Now, I have a couple of questions for Rush. First, if the torture is "fun" and no worse than "fraternity hazing," why would it matter if the pictures were released? After all, according to Rush, this is fun. Arabs should be lining up to take a ride through Abu Ghraib so they can have a little male bonding time. In fact, the pictures could be used as a recruitment tool to get the insurgents off the streets and behind bars. We could make big posters of the pictures and post them all over town to show the insurgents what "fun" times they are missing out on. This way, we don't have to round them up and put American soldiers lives at risk.

Second, if the torture was so "brilliant," why would you not want the pictures to be seen? If torture is such an effective tool, wouldn't this be a great way of dissuading anyone from challenging American authority? If worked for Saddam for almost 30 years. If Saddam was able to pacify his country for decades with torture, and Rush thinks torture tactics are so great, again, we should be advertising these pictures, not hiding them.

I don't think Rush realizes that it is the torture itself that sullies the American reputation, not the pictures. I wish he would get that through his big fat head.

Rush Limbaugh - Talk Out of His Butt Again

Usually, as I have pointed out in the past (here and here), Rush Limbaugh pretty much lies about everything. But this one is not even a lie. It is just plain stupid from any angle you look at it. Now, I understand that he has fill a full 3 hours of blither per day, but Rush, buddy, think just a little before you speek. From the September 21st Rush Limbaugh show:

LIMBAUGH: From the Associated Press, Mary Dalrymple doing the honors of writing this story. "House and Senate tax writers agreed yesterday to a package of tax breaks designed to help Hurricane Katrina victims recoup their losses and access needed cash. The Congressional Research Service, an office that provides lawmakers with nonpartisan legislative analysis, said some of those tax breaks could do more for higher income survivors than for the neediest."

Yes. People, they're going to get tax breaks for Katrina. It may help the rich more. The rich may benefit more from taxes and tax cuts that result from Hurricane Katrina. We should rethink this, ladies and gentlemen. Even though the rich were wiped out too, they still may benefit more. I will guarantee you this, ladies and gentlemen: Many of those getting tax cuts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina will not have paid any taxes at all. The people who pay taxes today are primarily the upper middle class, the rich, whatever you're going to call them, and the filthy wealthy.

Now, if these poor people are not paying any taxes as it is (which is true, I won't argue about that), how can income tax cuts help them at all? For give me if I am wrong, but as far as I know, 0 - 0 = 0. These tax cuts, of course won't affect the taxes that the poor do pay, such as SSI and sales tax.

So, in the end Rush, yes, this Republican proposal helps the rich and middle class and not the poor. I am not saying that they should't get help. But this does nothing for the poor... Nothing.

More Rush Limbaugh Crap

Rush is really quite pathetic. When talking about Paul Hackett, the democratic nominee and former Marine stationed in Iraq, who narrowly lost a special election for the Ohio 2nd District Congressional seat, Rush said:

And it appears that, you know, he goes to Iraq to pad the resumé,

That is just a plain ol' disgusting way to talk about our nations vets. It should be noted that Rush has never served in the military. He got out of it due to a "bad back" even though Rush is a avid golfer.

Rush went on to continue embarrassing himself.

The big picture here is they got another liberal Democrat trying to hide behind a military uniform

So much for supporting our troops Rush. But Hackett had a good response that is so true about Rush.

That's typical for that fat-ass drug addict to come up with something like that.

More Rush Limbaugh Lies

While most people know that Rush Limbaugh is bloated and pompous, I don't think most people realize how much the man just flat out lies. For instance, On Rush's August 3rd show, he claimed that the Columbia space shuttle disaster was caused by the EPA.

... EPA rules actually may have caused the shuttle Columbia disaster. It goes like this. They used to use Freon in the ingredients of the foam that they spray on the -- that solid fuel tank. It's that foam that fell off -- that chunks of it fall off, and the second to go shuttle mission created a hole in the wing and led to the disaster on re-entry. They can't use Freon anymore. They had to use something else to cause the foam to bond to the fuel tank, and it was not nearly as good as Freon was. And that's why the chunks started coming loose. And so they came up with some other substance that is a little stickier and causes the stuff to bond better, but it still doesn't work as well as Freon did.

So maybe -- a lot of people are beginning to think that the banning of Freon actually caused the shuttle accident, the Columbia shuttle accident, two flights ago. And I'm inclined to believe it when I hear this.

Of course Rush forgets to tell you that the foam that broke off was attached with Freon. Not only that, but the report says there was constantly foam breaking off that was attached with Freon. 62 instances out of 80 missions to be precise. (NASA Report)

It is amazing how Rush will use any spin or lie possible to attack the EPA.

More Rush Limbaugh

after my last post, I just had to go back and look up some of Rush's old quotes on drug abuse in light of him being an addict himself and yet so harsh on others.
"There's nothing good about drug use. We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up. " - Rush Limbaugh show 1995

or
"...too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too." - Rush Limbaugh show Oct. 5, 1995

That's why you, Rush, should go into court and demand that the judge send you away for the maximum time allowed by law. You should take responsibility like you always claim everyone else should.
"'When you strip it all away, Jerry Garcia destroyed his life on drugs. And yet he's being honored, like some godlike figure. Our priorities are out of whack, folks." - Rush Limbaugh show 1994

Wow, hear that conservitives. Take Rush down from your pedistals and get your priorities in whack and stop listening to him. Rush demands it of you.

I am just waiting for Rush to blame his addiction on liberal media bias and Bill Clinton.

Limbaugh Lies Again

Yes, another lie from the Limbaughstinator. As the right wing always tries to paint the media as this big left wing propaganda machine, they continually lie to their readers and listeners in order to make their agenda palatable. From the June 1 broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show:

LIMBAUGH: We had the news on the program yesterday that Felt had been pardoned, and I found it interesting that for most of yesterday and last night, no major media outlet or even cable news show mentioned his conviction for ordering illegal break-ins.

The truth:

NBC

ANDREA MITCHELL (NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent): In 1980, Felt was convicted of illegal FBI break-ins against antiwar radicals and later pardoned by Ronald Reagan. Admirers say Felt was trying to protect the FBI. Writing about Watergate in a 1979 memoir, Felt wrote, "The reputation of the FBI is at stake." [Nightly News, 5/31/05]

MSNBC

PAT BUCHANAN (MSNBC analyst and former Nixon speechwriter): He [Felt] was later indicted and convicted of a matter which I thought he shouldn't have been. He was pardoned by Ronald Reagan. [Hardball with Chris Matthews, 5/31/05]

ABC

CHRIS BURY (Nightline correspondent): Ironically enough, Mark Felt shares one unusual connection with the president he helped bring down. Like Richard Nixon, Felt received a presidential pardon -- in his case, for a 1980 conspiracy conviction on illegal FBI break-ins against friends and relatives of the militant organization Weather Underground. In coming forward now, in the twilight of his life, Mark Felt and his family clearly felt that he had one final opportunity to define his Watergate legacy in his terms. That the mystery man known for all these years as Deep Throat be remembered not as a snitch, but a hero. [Nightline, 5/31/05]

PBS

DAVID GERGEN (former presidential adviser): I mean, Mark Felt, people say, well, he was a man of honor, but listen, Charlie, this was a fellow who was -- Mark Felt was a fellow who was pardoned -- pardoned -- by Ronald Reagan in 1981 for his part in burglaries undertaken by the FBI against the Weathermen and apparently against -- possibly against others. [The Charlie Rose Show, 5/31/05]

CNN

JUDY WOODRUFF (CNN host): In 1978, the former agent was indicted for approving other Nixon-era break-ins, raids on leftist antiwar groups. He was convicted and later pardoned by Ronald Reagan. And then, Mark Felt slipped into obscurity, until now. [Prerecorded segment shown on Anderson Cooper 360, 5/31/05, and Paula Zahn Now, 5/31/05]

BRIAN TODD (CNN correspondent): So Mark Felt may always be associated with a certain contradiction and irony. In the late '70s, he was charged with violating the constitutional rights of American citizens by authorizing government agents to break into the homes of bombing suspects. That case dated back to the early '70s, when he was still with the FBI. Felt was convicted on that charge, but later pardoned by President Ronald Reagan. [Wolf Blitzer Reports, 5/31/05]

CNN Headline News

A.J. HAMMER (co-host): So who is W. Mark Felt? We know that Felt was indicted in 1978 for approving some other break-ins during Nixon's administration. President Reagan later pardoned him for the 1978 indictment, and in 1999, Felt told The Hartford Courant he was not Deep Throat. [Showbiz Tonight, 5/31/05]

The Washington Post

In 1980, Felt and another senior FBI veteran were convicted of conspiring nearly a decade earlier to violate the civil rights of domestic dissidents in the Weather Underground movement; President Ronald Reagan then issued a pardon. [David Von Drehle, "FBI's No. 2 Was 'Deep Throat,'" published 6/1/05, before Limbaugh's broadcast]

The New York Times

But much of the most serious and informed speculation has long centered on the F.B.I., and on Mr. Felt, who was convicted in 1980 on unrelated charges of authorizing government agents to break into homes secretly, without search warrants, in a search for anti-Vietnam-War bombing suspects from the radical Weather Underground in 1972 and 1973. Five months later, President Ronald Reagan pardoned him on the grounds that he had "acted on high principle to bring an end to the terrorism that was threatening our nation." [Todd S. Purdum, "F.B.I. Official Revealed He Was Watergate Source in Interview," 5/31/05]

Los Angeles Times

In November 1980, Felt and Edward S. Miller, then head of the FBI's intelligence division, were convicted of authorizing break-ins without warrants into the homes of members of the Weathermen in the 1970s, a radical antiwar group. ... Although President Ronald Reagan later granted the two men full pardons, O'Connor, the attorney and author of the article, noted that Felt blamed the prosecution for contributing to the death of his wife in 1984. [Richard B. Schmitt, "Washington Post Confirms W. Mark Felt at FBI Was Watergate's 'Deep Throat," 5/31/05]

Yes, even from the big bad liberal media of the New York Times and PBS, it was mentioned.
