Breach of Contract

Anyone want to sue? I will provide the legal representation because the Republican Contact with America was breached a long time ago and the American people are still paying the premiums.

This year's election offers the chance, after four decades of one-party control, to bring to the House a new majority that will transform the way Congress works. That historic change would be the end of government that is too big, too intrusive, and too easy with the public's money. It can be the beginning of a Congress that respects the values and shares the faith of the American family.

The Republican Revolution definitely changed the way congress worked. Since the Republicans took over, the number of lobbyists in DC has tripled. Government has grown by leaps and bounds since 2000 and so has the budget. The deficit has ballooned to near historic heights. The income gap between rich and poor has increased every year since 2000, and poverty levels have also increased every year. Republican congressmen push Bush to nominate judges who do not believe that there is a constitutional right to privacy. Wave after wave of corruption and ethics violations have been uncovered.

The contract called for a smaller, leaner, less intrusive government that reduced spending. The GOP has delivered on none of it. The revolution was all hype and the Grand Old Party is leaving us with a tremendous hangover.

No need to sue, the 2006 election will provide an opportunity to change things, but that won't happen unless the Democrats make up their mind about what they stand for. They can't win if their whole platform consists of "Republicans are evil." It won't work, especially since the incumbent won't be running. Republicans have sold America on morality and patriotism. Right or wrong, the election will be decided by a hard-working, blue-collar guy driving a pick-up truck somewhere in Ohio who relates much better to George Bush than he does to Michael Moore. The Democrats need to show this guy that they actually represent his interests better than the Republicans do. So far, they've done a poor job getting that point across.

I agree with you Bob. Dems have done a horrible job of getting any single message out the door and front and center. I think the same thing is starting to happen with the GOP also. It is like in Cuba when different factions come together to fight a revolution. After the revolution, the different factions still have different goals and then they start to fight each other because only one can really be in power. The Dems have been doing this for a while now, and the GOP is seeing it own cracks.

But at this point, just being the party not in power, and not rolling in the corruption is a leg up.

Siggy, are you saying that just because the Dems were in power for 40 years, the GOP should be able to continue what they are doing?
