Once, Bush told a dinner audience of major contributors, "This is an impressive crowd of the haves and have mores. Some people call you the elite, I call you my base." Well, now Bush is promising more to the haves and have mores if he is re-elected.
By Patrick Healy, Boston Globe Staff - Bush describing his post election agenda to a private luncheon for major donors last month and saying: ''I'm going to come out strong after my swearing-in, with fundamental tax reform, tort reform, privatizing of Social Security."
1) Privatizing social security - this will cost the American tax payer over 2 trillion dollars, while also creating hundreds of millions of dollars in fees to big Wall Street banks. It is a huge govenment givaway
2) Fundamental tax reform. We saw what happened last time. 35% of the tax cut went to the top 1% of the country. How much more can the U.S. afford to cut taxes before we become a banana republic.
3) Tort reform - This means allowing the abolishment of consumer safety. Why should a company care if they hurt you if they make more money making a dangerous product than how much they will loose if there is a cap on punitive damages. Tort reform makes the Pinto incident able to happen all over again and on a much larger scale.
If you are middle or lower class and you vote for Bush, you have allowed yourself to be duped. Lincoln said you can fool some of the people all of the time, you can fool all of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. Where do you fit in?
