Got God? Pat and George Battle for His Ear

Who does God really talk to and who is just wacky? Both Pat and George claim to have a devine phone line. But they are getting different messages from upstairs...

CNN reported on an interview given by Pat Robertson, The founder of the U.S. Christian Coalition. According to Robertson, "he had that conversation with the president in Nashville, Tennessee, before the March 2003 invasion U.S.-led invasion of Iraq." During the meeting Robertson says, "I warned him about this war. I had deep misgivings about this war, deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, 'Mr. President, you had better prepare the American people for casualties.' "

Bush replied, "Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties."

No Casualties?!?! This man is completely delusional. How could he expect to go to war and not lose a single soldier. Bush is bordering on clinically insane.

Robertson also claims, "The Lord told me it [Iraq] was going to be A, a disaster, and B, messy," Robertson said. "I warned him [Bush] about casualties."

Now, here is my problem with the whole situation. Both men claim God speaks to them. If God is telling Pat it will be a disaster and God is telling George that the invasion will be a smashing success, someone has to be wrong. My humble opinion is that God speaks to neither of them. After all Pat Robertson has prayed for the death of at least 3 supreme court justices so Bush could appoint pro-life judges and also blamed 9/11 on the ACLU, abortionists, feminists, gays... not terrorists.

Either way, I don't want a leader who will make decisions by reading the "omens." I want someone who will make decisions by reading an actually CIA briefing (and understanding it). And if God really speaks to Bush, why didn't he warn him about the flu shots earlier...

If you want a president that will act based on CIA briefings, then it looks like Bush is your man. You see, the CIA informed Mr. Bush that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I'm sure this counters your "Bush lied" argument, but he was acting on CIA information. Accordingly, Congress voted unanimously to go to war with Iraq. Yes, even the most liberal Senator in the United States (Mr. Kerry). So I guess if Bush lied, then so did Kerry....and every other US Congressman.

No, actually he didn't read them. He has admitted this. And the people who did read them (when the report was "ambiguous") sent it back to the CIA to redo it to play up the WMD stuff. Bush admits he doesn't read. Bush said he didn't even need his advisors to tell him to go to war, he just "read their body language" (Bob Woodwards book).
